At this time of year, we always get a number of calls saying the heating is not working. If the issue transpires to be “user error” our clients will seek to ask tenants to pay the cost of the heating engineers visit. To avoid this, we have a few simple checks that you can make to ensure there is a genuine issue;
- Ensure the timer for the heating control is making a demand. Make sure that the timer is showing “on” for the heating.
- Ensure the room Thermostat is making a demand. (turn it up until after it clicks)
- Check the pressure if a combination boiler (if it provides instant hot water) is at least one Bar.
- If there is a Thermostatic Radiator Valve make sure this is not closed off or on a frost stat setting.
You may need to “google” your heating controls and boiler controls to be sure of the above. If all the above have been addressed, please do let our Property Management team know if you still do not have heating.
