Relaxing in Botley

Botley benefits from having some of the most beautiful country pubs – The Fishes and The Perch, both serve excellent food which can be walked off by a stroll along Hinksey Stream, or Port Meadow. Highly recommended by C&C staff! Stock up on store cupboard essentials at the local “Unpacked” Waitrose – an eco-friendly approach to shopping which allows customers to refill their own containers and less packaging. After a successful trial with the Botley community this has become a permanent feature to the store. For all your fresh food needs, head to Pickle and Lime an independent greengrocers sourcing local fresh produce, their outdoor display will leave your mouth watering. Wanting to try something different? Footgolf is the answer! Try to get a hole in one using a football at Hinksey Golf Club.

Highlight of Botley

Hidden within the Curtis Industrial Estate, behind McDonalds, is an excellent brewery called The Tap Social. This social enterprise not only produces their own craft brews, but their company support eligible ex-offenders into employment on the mission for social justice. Their industrial brewery doubles as a pub which vintage furniture and large oriental rugs, often punters can enjoy live music and tasty delights from an outdoor food truck. An excellent evening to be had, whilst supporting their worthy mission.

The people’s view

Botley is a nice quiet residential area well connected to city centre and north Oxford. Good walks around Oatlands Recreation Grounds, Righley Park and Wytham Woods and a nice cycle path from botley to centre along Canals. There are few nice pubs with good outdoor areas (Fishes, Tap social, Punter). Also food markets by the botley shops on Saturdays.
