Jericho Area Guide

The name ‘Jericho’ refers to a ‘remote place’.

Living in Jericho

Oxfordshire in general, is known to be a desirable location to live in in the country. Specifically, Jericho was named in the Sunday Times as one of the best places to live in the country! The bohemian neighbourhood of Jericho has been described by residents as a ‘safe haven’. It’s hippy vibe and positive attitude towards ‘supporting local’ is one of the many reasons it attracts so many tourists and locals to the area. Why not drop us a note and let us know what it is you’re looking for ?

Learning in Jericho

Jericho houses the infamous Walton Street where the Oxford University Press is found. Since 1478 books have been printed in Oxford and the University of Oxford (whose different colleges are located within walking distance from Jericho) were permitted to officially print books in 1586. It is located within walking distance to the main city centre which is where Oxford University’s various colleges are located.

Relaxing in Jericho

If you’re a fan of cocktails , Raoul is rated by locals as one of the best clock tail bars in oxford. It has a beautiful setting and relaxing atmosphere particularly in the evenings which is perf for unwinding after a long day or week! If you’re wanting something with a bit more of a buzz, Rickety Press, another one of Jericho’s gems offers a perfect balance of value for money and a lovely chilled atmosphere. Fancy a stroll? Port Meadow makes the perfect location for a lovely evening stroll or Sunday afternoon walk. Thereafter you can enjoy a warming Sunday lunch in the pub garden at The Perch. There is plenty to do for everyone and different tastes, you’ve just got to keep an open mind and go explore.

Highlight of Jericho

Barefoot Jericho is one of my favourite coffee places! Starting from the atmosphere, level of service and quality of coffee, it’s practically faultless. They also have lots of lovely vegan and gluten free treats which are absolutely delicious and all home-made.

Local View

“ Well, what’s not to like about Jericho? It has a booming community spirit and lots of lovely cafes, hip cocktail bars and restaurants which is so convenient especially on the weekends when Oxford City Centre’s restaurants are packed up. It also has great bus links which makes it a lot easier during school runs and being close to the canal is also another bonus- If you haven’t already, I’d highly recommend you check out this lovely area we call home.
